At Hawthorn Alpacas your females are mated at our premises via one of the options below:

  • ‘Drive By’ Mating – You bring the female to our farm to be mated, then you take her home.
  • ‘On Farm’ Mating – You deliver the female to us and we house the female on our farm then after the mating arrange to send her back to you.

Our Objective is to improve the fleece quality i.e Micron, Crimp, Density, Uniformity, Finess & Staple length and last of all Conformation.

Stud Services Terms and ConditionsStud services purchased from Hawthorn Alpacas will be provided subject to the following terms and conditions:Although we endeavour to provide the very best service for all animals on our property, we will not accept any liability for loss or damage to the client females. All female alpacas kept on our property is at the owner’s risk, and owners should be aware that insurance for their animals is their responsibility.

If veterinary services as required during the females stay, we reserve the right to invoice the owner all veterinary costs incurred.

Hawthorn Alpacas provides a guarantee of a live cria on the ground for 24 hours, or a free return to service under the same terms as this agreement. If the cria is live on ground we will need a veterinary certificate showing that the death could not reasonably have been avoided. No other guarantee is offered.

All costs incurred in relation to the servicing be paid in full prior to the return/collection of the animal.

All females must have been wormed within one week and at least 48 hrs prior to delivery for service. The purchaser of the stud service must ensure that any animal being sent for service is healthy, in good condition and has no more than one year’s growth of fibre. We reserve the right to trim the fleece around the rear of the female to be bred if it is considered too long for efficient and safe mating.
